Study Skills Classes
For students with high academic aspirations, Rising Stars / Ivy Bound will be offering Study Skills classes in August and September. With each new high school year, students face more academic responsibilities and are usually held to higher standards. The Rising Stars Study Skills course helps assure that students are ready for the new challenges their teachers will demand.
The specific skills covered in our course are:
- Reading with Understanding
- Effective Writing
- Note-taking / Classroom Absorption
- Test Taking Skills
- How to Build Vocabulary
- Time management for the student with a lot to juggle
Since not every skill will be applicable to each student's curricula, Rising Stars / Ivy Bound offers extra help each session, to address each student's specific academic needs.
Rising Stars Instructors are undergrads and graduates of top colleges, have a zeal for teaching teens, have achieved strong grades, and have top 5% SAT scores.
This summer and fall we are offering two study skills classes, open to all students age 12 - 17. The cost is $440 per student, including materials. For students needing a different schedule, or who prefer one-on-one attention, private tutoring is available.
