When were you ever taught about credit cards, interest rates, and bank accounts? Who ever cautioned you about the perils of advertising? Who gave you a systematic way to write a resume? Have you ever read the fine print on long term phone payment plans? Did anyone ever tell you how to pare 20% off your grocery bills?
Teens are facing more responsibilities and are at the same time exposed to more intricate offers and outright frauds than ever before. Rising Stars believes that true home economics may be the most important skill for young adults, and the least often given.
The Rising Stars Life Skills / Micro Economics course helps assure that students are ready for new challenges in the unsheltered world of college and young adult-hood. Rising Stars offers schools and community groups a one semester series (15 18 hours) learning to be conscious consumers.

Rising Stars Instructors have attended top colleges, have a zeal for teaching teens, have achieved strong grades and/or top SAT scores and bring a consumer worldliness to the classroom.
The Micro Economics / Life Skills Class is appropriate for all students age 14 to 19. The cost to the school district is $2400 - $3000 for 12-15 visits, plus $75/student for materials.
